Johnny Guitar Watson - In Concert: Ohne Filter

Five Stars +
What a gas watching Johnny Guitar doing what he did best! Johnny Guitar Watson, for the uninitiated, was a true rock n roll pioneer who influenced a large number of people without ever having a number of big hits of his own to speak of. A multi-instrumentalist who played guitar, bass, keys, drums, and some brass, too, Johnny was the first to lose the image of the world-weary, downtrodden blues musician to become the original, big-pimpin' Mack Daddy. He moved from the blues and jazz in the 50s to rock and r&b in the 60s to pure funk in the 70s and beyond, always keeping a finger on the current culture's pulse.

This is Johnny late in his career (he died in '96) performing for a German TV show in front of a live studio audience. His band is smoking, the crowd is receptive, and the selection of songs run from slow blues from his early years (Reconsider, Baby)to his funkiest dance numbers (A Real Mother For Ya). I was so happy to come across this on Amazon video!
RIP...

didnt watch all of it
started to watch the show wasn't very interesting so I turned it off. I really expected of a lot more

JGW is the best.
Johnny Guitar Watson is an amazing character. He's a showman and an amazing musician with a strange, strange sensibility. A bluesman who was inspired by Funkadelic, he changed what he did and came up with a lighthearted, fun, and groovy style of funky RnB that was the musical forefather of people like Andre 3000 from Outkast. Check out his album "Family Clone" if you want to see what I mean.
