Yellowjackets - In Concert: Ohne Filter

Jazz Fusion at it's Best!
Jazz Fusion took me a long time to appreciate for many different reasons, mainly my own thick skull. This is prime "Jackets" filmed with the original line-up of musicians that formed this group. Listen, watch and listen some more, this genre of Jazz will grow on you.

Studio live
The rating is best described as a hypnotic experience performed by this gifted musician of differing styles. Ronny (bass) and Kennedy (percussionist) set the stage for each piece of work. Kennedy is extraordinary in his performances. He and Ron do a dance parody with each other as they play. They all compliment each other in a most interesting way and what they produce is awesome in the jazz style they compose and play. They are a tight net-jazz fusion group.
The live performance takes nothing away from the studio rather it is more enhanced and true to form. If you like live performance.....don't pass on this one. They have been a favorite of mine since 1980 and they are still going strong.

Great piece, but who's Ronnie?
Sounds great, but I'm not sure who the other reviewer is referring to when he says "Ronnie"is on bass. That's JImmy Haslip -- one of the masters of the instrument. He's been "on hiatus" according to the Yellowjackets' website, replaced by Felix Pastorius, as in Jaco's son.
