The Ultimate Price [HD]

High Entertainment Value, But....
Who doesn't like the idea of striking it rich?! Gold Rush is about six men who are facing financial ruin, and in a last ditch effort they decide to head to Alaska in search of gold. The main story centers around a father and son who sell everything they own to later invest it in gold mining equipment. They buy large excavation equipment, and lease prospecting land from an old timer in Alaska. The land they lease supposedly contains millions and millions of dollars of gold.. so says the old timer.

As with most reality television shows, this one is largely scripted with your usual cast of bullies and clowns. Probably the most likable character on the show is Jimmy Dorsey, but he gets "written off" the show. While Gold Rush is entertaining, it needs to be mentioned that the cast of this show makes a tremendous amount of errors and common sense blunders, but this is probably what adds the most to the entertainment value. The show contains many re-enactments but it's often...

awesome
It was very educated. They work real hard. I like the Hoffman crew. I hope they get lots of gold.

Lacks entertainment
Wasted footage on continued coverage of Porcupine Creek. Found the rest interesting albeit a bit boring at times. Probably would not watch a third season.

Fools Gold [HD]

A lot more than a story about a pawn shop.
This is one of the best reality T.V. shows I have seen.

It shows the some of the real problem with Detroit. A lot of the people who are pawning things do so because they lost all their money at the casino and can't pay bills. They then go gamble that money away also, and come back.

It also shows a real reality of pawn shops. You don't get anywhere near the value of items. I see many people sell PS3 systems to the shop for 100-125. I see the pawn shop flip them very fast for 200+. If these guys had access to the internet, most the stuff they are pawning could be sold for far more. But they want instant cash for poor life choices, and they lose LOTS of money because of that.

Really it shows something most people already know. Pawn shops may give instant cash, but you are getting less than half the value of the items. A PS3 on ebay would go for 175+ easy. Gold sold by gold weight alone would bring in more than pawn shops will pay.

I really like...

Loading problems
The sow is great, otherwise we wouldn't have paid so much. I think it's a problem with amazon. A few episodes will work just fine and then we get errors - loading- up date flash player. Once we restart our laptop all errors are gone. It's a hassle and we did say something to amazon. In response we got " sorry we are working on the problem". At least they know about the problem.

Another great season!
I don't know what it is about "The D'" but I am hooked on American Jewelry and hardcore pawn! Watching this family is like a soap opera. They are constantly fighting but there is no denying they love each other and have each other's backs. Also they are sharks when it comes to business. I think they will have many more seasons of this show to come (I bought up to season six)

The Chi-Lites- Live in Norfolk 2005
I grew up listening to the Chi-Lites. This video is excellent, because it really reflects the greatness of the group. This group has been singing together for 45 years and their voice quality is the same as it was when they first started singing together! I watch this video at least every other day! Purchasing this video was money well spent!

The Student's Advantage

A Primer for respecting the choices students must make
Wyne Ince has stepped forward as a motivational speaker and writer for students of the high school level on how to approach education not only on a daily basis but also one a philosophical basis. This is perhaps one of the more devoted books focusing on teenagers as any one the market. For once the book is not a manual for parents on how to cope with their non-motivated, distracted, potential failures of teenagers - though this book could be very well placed in the hands of parents also. But primarily Ince is offering systems for students to grow into the appreciation for education as a step in finding a happy and successful life.

He offers seven learning secrets - Ask questions, Re-state it in your own words, Give examples of it, Make connections between it and what you already know, Apply it to a real-life situation, Teach it, Talk about it; A road map for student success - Setting goals, Managing your time, Opening your mind, Being shrewd, Mastering your subject,...

Fantastic Motivational Guide For Students
Wyne Ince's "The Student's Advantage" is an engaging read for teens and adults alike. The book covers topics that are simply not addressed in our schools today -- why is it important to have a solid educational foundation, and how to get there. Too often today, students are talked down to and told to "do it because I say so" when it comes to life and learning. The Student's Advantage is different; it helps teens understand through exercises and case studies the WHY education is important...in their language in a down to earth manner.

The 10 Steps in the Student's Success Roadmap reaffirm how students must proceed on a path towards success and guides students on how to take their passion, talent and energy and focus on the life they desire. It is my belief that this book can help students self-motivate and prepare for their future. School counselors, teachers, parents, and foster parents will find Ince's teachings to be relevant while students will find it to be a blend...

Fabulous!!
"The Student's Advantage" is absolutely the best compilation of vital information for learning that I've ever seen!! When I was reading this, I was constantly saying yes, yes, yes, hallelujah!! During my many years of teaching English and Composition to students from grades 2 through the sophomore year of college, I provided this information, verbally and piece-meal,to my students because I knew they needed it in order to be a better student and to be more of a success in every area of their lives. There were no classes on the subjects found in Mr. Wynce's book, nor could I find any books with all this incredible guidance in its contents.

Everyone will find interesting the chapter on famous people and their success stories. Hopefully, there will be qualities found in these people that the student will admire and strive to emulate.

I would love to see classes based on this book taught to all students in middle school and high school. I find that college students...

Lost Highway [HD]

Disappeared Season 2
This is one of the best shows on television. Not only is it a way to bring true life stories to the attention of others but it's also a way to educate and learn some valuable lessons in life showing how in the "blink of an eye" you can be lost forever. If you are looking for a show that touches your heart and makes you think then this is truly the show for you. I highly recommend this show.

The Best of True Crime!!!
Disappeared rises above the other true crime programs by wisely avoiding the melodramatic re-creations seen in similar shows. This engrossing production delivers the facts of each case in a concise and well laid out format. Each episode gets the same treatment from the competent but not overpowering narrator who calmly relates each tragedy. I highly recommend spending your time with this well crafted ID show!

Disappeared
Disappeared............once I started watching I could not stop. I think I watched the whole series over a weekend.

It frighting that people can just disappear for years not hearing anything from them. I have grown children and I don't know if I could go on with my normal life if one of then just.........DISAPPEARED!!

Not knowing if they are dead or alive is the hardest thing in my mind. I don't know how those families do it.
My heart goes out to them.

Compelling horror/drama!
Great performances and an intriguing premise -- just as spooky as any classic X-Files episode, which is the highest praise I can offer up.

Great Short
I highly recommend this short. It had a great style to it and the suspense was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed the acting, directing and filmmaking of this film. If you are into genre short films and like edgy stylistic pieces, this is the perfect fit for you.

Modern Twilight Zone
This short has all the best aspects of a Twilight Zone... well drawn characters, an intriguing premise, and a reveal that'll keep you thinking long after the credits have rolled.

The Last Truck Stop [HD]

Lets you know there are more missing than you think
This series is about missing people. It is not about solved missing persons cases. It is typically about people who are still missing. There are so many missing people--people who just vanish and are never seen again--missing without explanation or reason at all. I'm glad this series calls attention to their cases. Having searched for two missing persons myself (Elizabeth Smart and Lori Soares), I understand the frustration of the search. Fortunately there was resolution in both cases I searched for, but there are so many other cases which are not ever solved. Shows like this keep them in the limelight.

Interesting
I love this show. I sat and watched all the available episodes, great for anyone who likes true investigative stories.

Nothing new
There is nothing new in this documentary about the life (and murder) of Atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair and her family. There is yet much to be written about about this famed civil rights leader. Unfortunately, most of what is written about her is usually one-sided and partial. I place her in the same league as some cultural icons who for one reason or another, had a terrible time with the media and the message that came across was often garbled, maddening and anything but rational. If the word Atheist is part of our lexicon (including the current term, New Atheist), I think that she had a lot to do with popularizing it.

Yellowjackets - In Concert: Ohne Filter

Jazz Fusion at it's Best!
Jazz Fusion took me a long time to appreciate for many different reasons, mainly my own thick skull. This is prime "Jackets" filmed with the original line-up of musicians that formed this group. Listen, watch and listen some more, this genre of Jazz will grow on you.

Studio live
The rating is best described as a hypnotic experience performed by this gifted musician of differing styles. Ronny (bass) and Kennedy (percussionist) set the stage for each piece of work. Kennedy is extraordinary in his performances. He and Ron do a dance parody with each other as they play. They all compliment each other in a most interesting way and what they produce is awesome in the jazz style they compose and play. They are a tight net-jazz fusion group.
The live performance takes nothing away from the studio rather it is more enhanced and true to form. If you like live performance.....don't pass on this one. They have been a favorite of mine since 1980 and they are still going strong.

Great piece, but who's Ronnie?
Sounds great, but I'm not sure who the other reviewer is referring to when he says "Ronnie"is on bass. That's JImmy Haslip -- one of the masters of the instrument. He's been "on hiatus" according to the Yellowjackets' website, replaced by Felix Pastorius, as in Jaco's son.

The Icebreakers - In Concert: Ohne Filter

Good to see Albert again!
I saw Albert Collins perform live numerous times. If he was in town I was there. The first time I saw him he was an unknown (to me) that was opening for a well known act. In fact, at the door of the club, the headliners had a big poster on display with a simple 3x5 notecard underneath with "Albert Collins and the Icebreakers" scribbled in marker. He and the band took the stage and me and my friends were asking each other "who is this guy?" After a couple of knockout songs we were asking each other "WHO IS THIS GUY???" The headliners seriously had their work cut out for them. After that night I was a lifetime fan.

With the high energy backing of the Icebreakers he always brought his best to the stage. He wasted no time and would quickly whip the audience into a frenzy. Every time I saw him play he would wind up marching out the front door of the club, guitar still wailing, and would literally stop traffic in the street! You could recognize...

Cool tunes from the Ice Man
Found this little gem in Amazon's Prime Videos, and I'm glad I did. Albert Collins is one of the great blues masters that the way for SRV and the next generation of blues guitarists. It's a fine set, just wish it was a little longer.

A Must-Have For The Blues Aficionado
It was a good night for Albert Collins and his band. An unorthodox guitarist whose stylistic guitarisms are different than most current blues players, he has a wonderfully blues vibe all his own. Heaven has quite a bluesman now, but fortunately we recorded him on video before he left town. A must-have performance. Would be a five star were I not overly stingy with them.

Robben Ford - Ohne Filter: Revisited

Robben Ford; it just doesn't get much better
If you like real musicians who create and improvise in real time, with other really good musicians, and consistently entertain, count on Robben. I'm sure that are "better guitar players" in the world, but for my money, no other guitarist can entertain me and continually push out chords, notes, melodies, riffs, and also sing very well.
It's also worth mentioning, he recruits the BEST musicians to play with. He obviously is a great "quarterback" to his teammates on stage. The enjoyment by the band along with Robben's efforts to push the other musicians to push themselves, to play without fear of any kind of failure, really makes for a great concert video.

Meet Kody & the Wives [HD]

Wives galore
There are reality shows for minor celebrities, musicians, tattoo artists, rich brats, people with huge families, lesbians, superheroes, and presidential wannabes.

And with "Sister Wives Season 1," you can add polygamists (or rather, polygynists) to the long list of slightly-off-the-norm people who have put themselves on reality TV. And while this show initially seems like an interesting glimpse into a family with, um, unconventional marriage habits, it starts getting disturbing and creepy as we see more of the family patriarch.

That would be Kody Brown, who belongs to a sect that splintered off the Mormon Church about a century ago (they share many of the tenets, but still practice polgamy). He lives in an enormous house with his three wives -- bubbly Christine, down-to-earth Meri, and earth-mama Janelle -- and their vast brood of children.

Over the course of the show, a few subplots crop up. Kody courts and becomes engaged to the weepy Robyn...

One Man, Three Wives, One Fiancee (I Can't Even Count The Children)--Fascinating Topic With Superficial Execution
In a bold programming stroke, TLC flouted convention and dropped "Sister Wives" onto its 2010 TV schedule. A reality TV show in which the subject matter is considered both taboo and illegal is a daring bit of maneuvering that might have garnered TLC more press than actual viewers though. In truth, I don't watch many of these types of reality show--but I suspect people tune in because they identify with the participants or because the antics are so outrageous, they can't wait to see what happens next. As an avid fan of "Big Love" (who despite a rocky last season is TV's most consistently underrated drama) and Brady Udall's "The Lonely Polygamist" (one of my top five books of 2010), I threw caution to the wind with "Sister Wives." It might be interesting to note, at this juncture, that this TV show did open up a Utah legal investigation into the Kody Brown clan and they have subsequently relocated to an unspecified domicile in Nevada. Such is the price of fame!

My Pet Python [HD]

Responsible pet owners
This show makes no mention for the responsible pet owner. It paints exotic pet shows in a bad light. These are extreme cases that pet owners are harmed by their pets.

A sad, but realistic look at the fatal consequences of human arrogance
Fatal Attractions is a really sad show, but simultaneously, the drama between the involved humans and animals captivated me so much I didn't want to miss any episodes. The show describes the dangerous situations that occur when humans take wild animals into their homes as pets. Most people know that owning a pet tiger/alligator/poisonous snake is a bad idea, but for these individuals,. their selfish desire to possess what they shouldn't have overrides any concern for their safety or that of others, with devastating results. I love this show because it demonstrates that humans do not own the earth, and that we need to respect nature just as much as other animals do.

Fatal Attractions had me on the edge of my seat...
Pretty intense shows. I really don't like reality shows but the first show of season 1 had me wondering. What will happen next? This doesn't seem like it's going to work out well for the owner who is crazy enough to take a wild beast into his/her care! Yikes! I would say each show was like that. I have an interest in psychology and I was shocked at the rationalizations these people had made so they could be willing to put their own life and the lives of others in jeopardy. Most of these obsessed owners acted like their "pet" was like a human being to them (and would, therefore, never hurt them). Wrong! It was sad to see so many situations go so wrong.

Damsels in Distress

Quirky but loveable
This is the long-awaited return of writer-director Whit Stillman, who we last saw with the delicious 1998's "Last Days of Disco" movie.

"Damsels in Distress" (98 min.) brings the story set at a fictional Northeast university in which a group of young women, namely Violet (played by Greta Gerwig), Rose (played by Megalyn Echikunwoke) and Heather (played by Carrie MacLemore) take a transfer student Lily (played by Analeigh Tipton) under their wings. The group is determined to bring a better life to students, running the Suicide Center (which they rename the Suice Prevention Center). Of course that is not counting for the guy troubles that may, and will, occur. One of those is a fellow named Xavier. There is a hilarious scene in which Lily tries to explain that Xavier is spelled with an X, when one of the other girls say that it is surely it is spelled with a Z, as in "Zorro", at which point Violet surmises that the letters X and Z are pronouned the same when not ending in a...

Another Great One from Whit Stillman
After reading reviews I thought this film would be much different than his others but now that I have seen it I think it was quite similar. It is critical, smart, interesting, and funny. Some of the dialogue is absolutely hilarious. Whit Stillman is the only filmmaker I know of that writes pretty realistic yet comic films about the elite. It is fascinating to me to see how these people think. This film, even more than his others, shows how sad and pathetic the people that run the world really are. Sure they are oppressing just about everyone on earth and their actions cause untold devastation and suffering yet they believe they are doing the right thing "God's Work". This is a scathing yet sympathetic critique of the American aristocracy. One would think this would be impossible but here it is. He really has matured as a filmmaker. This is his most complex and nuanced work yet. Also, as with most cutting edge art, this film will likely require repeated exposure for one to...

Not A Whit Has Been Lost Since The Last Days of Disco
Life, perhaps, is an allusion. Therefore, gentle reader, please move on to a different review if you don't smile in Pavlovian fashion when hearing uttered the name "Whit Stillman."

Recently I learned that Stillman's Last Days of Disco has yet to break even in sales. Alas, how long we NCAs (see below) have waited since they booked that clown! Damsels in Distress, gratefully, is scarcely stillborn-- rather, it's more Still. If you have worn laser holes into your Criterion-Collection copies of Metropolitan, Barcelona, and The Last Days of Disco, then Damsels will not disappoint. However, if you are unfamiliar with the signature dialogue, settings, motifs, and characters of this returned-to-America auteur, perhaps Damsels will disappoint. Here, I write for the initiates. (And for these, I whisper, "Watch closely: the professor and one of the two off-campus waitresses are familiar friends from the trilogy!")

What's to tell? There are four principle characters, all...

Dreadlock Rock : the Story of Reggae Music

One mans spiritual journey into a mystical world of Reggae and Rastafari...
Great film all round, although not the faint hearted this new release contains part 1 and 2 and is a 2hr+ film! It documents the story of musician Jack Miller who was a band member of "Rebel Rockers"(?) in the US which was one of the first white reggae bands at this time in the US and his love of Reggae took him to the island where all his favorite music was being made. This is the film which documents that journey and the beginnings of a successful music career working with some of the biggest names in Reggae.
Get straight into the heart of Kingstons reggae scene via Jacks video camera and interviews. Featuring both archival footage and modern interviews looking back at the time when he made his first album at Channel One.
A must for any reggae music/film enthusiast....

Very nice rockumentary
This documentary is very informative and seems to include every major singer who played a part in the development of reggae music, although I'm not an authority. It gives the roots of reggae and goes on to show how reggae has spread around the world. It's very informative and, or course, the music is great.

Great Documentary !!!!!
One of the best reggae films to date !!! I really enjoyed this film and would recommend to anyone who loves music

A great history lesson!
I grew up training and showing Arabian horses but my boyfriend is all new to horses and the Arabian breed. This film was a great educational piece for him, who's never been around Arabs and who is always asking me about the breed. My only disappointment is that the horses in the film aren't listed in the credits. I would recommend The Arabian Horse: A Gift from the Desert to horse lovers new and old!

History of the Arabian Horse with some priceless film going back generations
Perfect for lovers of the Arabian horse. A good look at its past history and current use in the modern world.

It was ok.
Loads of History about the breed. However the worse part was the narrator, His tone was annoying, and monotonous as he droned on and on.

Watching the series is sooooooooooo sad. Watching the family talk about their love ones not knowing where they are and what happen to them. You want there to be a happy ending but unfortunately in most cases it's not, I like the show and it's a good show but very sad to see. Would recommend.

Such a great show

Probably 3.5 stars.
Overall I really enjoyed this series but season one and the first half (or so) of this season were a little hard to get through. It's worth it in the end and there are some gems in this season. Cad Bane is probably the best character to come out of this series.

Great TV SHOW!

Terror Of Dracula

A worthy entry in the Dracula Canon
I was delighted to finally view this film. I went in knowing that this was a modest production. Looking past its humble audio-visual values, what this project evidences is a deep love and respect for its subject matter - the gothic origins of the Dracula Mythology. Anthony D. P. Mann and company have put together a script that honors the Stoker source material while bringing their own ideas to the table. The depiction of the Count by Mann is quite effective. In the modern milieu, overrun by vampires as erotic creatures or teen idols, it is refreshing to see the portrayal of Dracula as the evil monster Stoker intended. Such projects should be encouraged by the intended community - lovers of horror, appreciators of an older form of storytelling, where dialogue is important and genre traditions are revered. I look forward to whatever projects this troupe has planned next.

Evil
This was cool just to see someone out of the mainstream's interpretation of the classic. I agree with what one of the other reviewers said, this Dracula is pure evil. That element has been missing from Hollywood versions for far too long. Entertaining.

Great low budget version
First, this is a low budget film, okay, VERY low. Does that make it bad? Absolutely NOT. It is a very entertaining version of the Dracula story that while not following the Stoker novel entirely stays true to the original spirit. Dracula/Vampires have gone from horror monsters to love lorn anti-heroes to sparkling wussies in the past 75 years or so as far as cinema is concerned. This film is refreshing in that it presents Dracula as an evil creature out to destroy. There is no reincarnated lost love, no reluctance to a vampire curse he is under, no this Dracula is evil to the core and it shows and dang its refreshing. Bravo to the makers of this indie film.

Loves Me, Loves Me Not [HD]

One important feature is missing...
I recently purchased Make it or Break it Volume 2 and automatically assume it should provide closed caption or subtiles but to my surprise, this volume 2 dvd doesnt but the first volume does. So why stop there? And plus I know that on tv, it provided closed captions. I am deaf myself and this bit of information would have been helpful.

Why no English subtitles???
This is a fantastic series, I was anxiously awating part 2 of season 1. But WHAT HAPPENED??? There are NO English subtitles for the hearing impaired. I'm not totally deaf, but most of the characters in this series talk very fast, and their enunciation is not that great. Part 1 included subs in French, Spanish, and English for hearing impaired. In part 2 they dropped this essential feature. WHY??? A subtitle track is a simple text file with timing script. Less than 1 MB of space. The show had closed captions available on the broadcast TV but NOT on the DVD collectors edition??? I am so sick of this!!! I will be re-selling this set, and waiting for a re-issue with proper features.

Please write to ABC Family Channel, Paul Lee, President, 3800 West Alameda Ave., Burbank, CA 91505 and let them know your concerns, Thank you!

(La Femme Nikita did the same thing. Seasons 1-4 all have English subs. But not on Season 5. Show a little concern for the hearing impaired.)

disgusted
I am truly disgusted that I spent hours watching season 1 and getting involved in the story and characters only to discover Volume 2 and 3 are NOT captioned. Why would you caption the older episodes and not the newer ones? I did enjoy volume 1, however will not even bother with the next two volumes since it is too much of a struggle to understand it and enjoy. Also, those of you who want to watch this with your children....be careful because there are a lot of adult topics. (losing virginity, eating disorders, adultery) Be prepared to do some explaining if your kids are not teenagers yet...which a lot of kids interested in gymnastics are 10 and under.

Dive Olly Dive: Season Set 1

Nice DVD for children
I bought this for our 18 month old, but it is really for suitable for an older preschooler as it did not hold her attention. It is nicely done.

Four year old loves it
He has seen this set of adventures multiple times. No "too scary" images. Some life lessons, like being prepared, competition with others, friendship. Great animation.

2 Year Old Son Loves Olly
This is a very cute and clean cartoon with "life" lessons. It's made by Sprout which I believe is part of PBS. My 2 year old son loves Olly, and I don't worry about him watching it. It's easier on parent ears then many other cartoons out there which is an added plus.

Dawn Rider [Blu-ray]

THE DOUBLE CROSS
1883. Montana, Wyoming, Dakotas.

Christian Slater stars as "Cincinnati" John Mason, a man wanted for murder in Missouri. Donald Sutherland plays a marshal hunting him down. Meanwhile, there is a group of hooded bandits robbing stage coaches and the mail. We, the audience, know the identity of the bandits, while John tries to figure it out because they shot and killed his father. John has a love interest in Alice (Jill Hennessy) and whiskey.

The movie is supposed to be a remake of the 1935 John Wayne film, which somehow I missed. I found Slater to lack the charisma and toughness to play a cowboy. While not terrible, he was unconvincing. The soundtrack was cowboy cliche with all the bells and whistles (literally) that we have come to watch in modern spoofs. The movie has slow moving sequences of long drawn out dialouge with frequent pauses for the characters to take a long breath or a swig of whiskey. Once the film gets about half way through it picks up and even...

Classic Southerland & Slater, hard but hot Hennessy!
I have not seen John Waynes' movie of the same name. However, this movie was very entertaining and enjoyable. I've always liked Slater and Southerland, and in this one they did not let me down. My big shock was Jill Hennessy (Crossing Jordan). She is the most engaging that I have ever seen her! Good western with plenty of gun play, good scenery, good acting and a good story. If you like westerns, give this one a try. No nudity, violence, blood, no gore, sexual situations and an ending you probably won't see coming. Unless a reviewer spoils it. Southerland is a marshall/ pinkerton hunting Slater, so he can get the large bounty. Slater is an exlawman staying a step ahead of Southerland. Along the way, alot of things happen both good and bad and the story gets real interesting. I lost count of the number of shootings in this movie, but it is alright as I was having a good time watching it.

THE DOUBLE CROSS

Once the film gets about half way through it picks up and even had some decent scenes.

It Is What It Is

Stop being pretentious
This family is happy and supportive of one another. Its obvious they deeply care for each other and are looking out for their best interests. No, they aren't living in LA arguing over which fall fashion line to buy and that is no reason to tear them to shreds. They have limited means but they make the most of it and know how to have fun. Its a different subculture than what you are used to seeing on tv but get over it. Highly entertaining, and Im constantly laughing. Makes for good tv.

Funny Stereotypes
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I ended up laughing at this stereotype of uneducated unwholesome family life in the fry-daddy rural south. I felt more ashamed of myself with each episode I watched. But it sure was funny and if the series was mean spirited in concept the Honey Boo Boo clan diffused it and disarmed it with their willingness to laugh at themselves. They embrace their lifestyle. They love each other. In the end I had to wonder who's zoomin' who. In a clear and mean attempt to poke fun, it was clearly the Boo Boo family who was laughing last and loudest.

I'm surprised. I absolutely expected to hate this show.
My guess is TLC thought they hit the Redneck jackpot with this family and planned to exploit them for fun and profit. They've got extreme couponing, the Redneck games, the teenage, unmarried pregnancy, obesity, toddler pageants, roadkill bbq, and a couple other negative American stereotypes thrown in for fun. They're probably kicking themselves that they couldn't manage hoarding. (I mean TLC is more carnival side-show than learning channel anymore). I think it backfired on them when the family didn't turn out to be a bunch of fist fighting, bitter and angry Rednecks on food stamps who were paranoid over the government. Instead they got a family that loved and supported each other.

While I think the entire pageant system is a huge scam and detrimental to the self-esteem of young girls (and boys), Alana seems to think they're fun. Her family has a much healthier attitude towards her participation than most pageant parents as in, it's great if she wins but they don't punish...

British Witchcraft

Jolly Good British Witchcraft
Along with my wife Anna I watched British Witchcraft by Nick Ridge. We were thrilled to be able to have a view into this other world of British Witchcraft. As I have been looking for educational reasources on this subject for some time it was nice to be able to peer into the practices of this lesser known and to a greater extent hidden form of Witchcraft. And Nick Ridge did a phenomenal job of presenting the various individual subject matter covered in this Dvd. I would greatly recommend this Dvd to anyone that would like to peek into the world of the Cunningfolk of England-Two thumbs up to Nick Ridge I hope he creates more works on his version of the Art of British Witchcraft.

British Witchcraft by Nick Ridge. Brilliant!!
This DVD is by my brother who is extremely knowledgeable, sincere and passionate about his subject.
I bought it because he has a terminal illness and not very long to live, so for me it will be more of a living memorial.
So whether you have an particular interest or merely idle curiosity about the subject of British Witchcraft you will learn an enormous amount and it is a hugely fascinating and informative!

inspiring and sensationally well filmed
having watched this very informative, well crafted dvd. i feel i now have more knowledge on british witchcraft and herbalism. thank you to Nick for sharing his years of knowlegde on these very interesting aspects of traditional british witchcraft. I enjoyed the very real and down to earth presentation which made it feel like this was not a lecture but a personal conversation between two people. Very refreshing to see someone with such passion about a subject close to my own heart.

Principled Reasoning: An Economic Worldview

A Reasoned Worldview
Making sense out of the vagaries and vasilations of economics is tough at any point but Jerry Bowyer's concise reasoning is a breath of fresh air. For those who hope to see economic policy designed toward a sensible and positive result instead of one monetary train wreck after another will find this treatment very helpful.

Religious dogma
Not about economics. About god. Makes the narrators points about the economy lose credibility as he is really just arguing for the existence of god.

UNDERGROUND ENTERTAINMENT: The Movie

AIN'T IT COOL NEWS - Review Of Underground Entertainment
-
FROM AIN'T IT COOL NEWS:

Watching UNDERGROUND ENTERTAINMENT: THE MOVIE is like meandering through a horror convention with all of your favorite horror stars and the geeks that love to watch them. Jim O'Rear and Bryan Wilson started a low-fi cable show in the late eighties that may not have known it at the time, but influenced quite a bit of modern culture. At least that's what this film would like you to believe. Shot documentary / best of style, UNDERGROUND ENTERTAINMENT: THE MOVIE is a retrospective on the years the wily television show made madness happen on the air and pushed the boundaries of good taste and what was allowed to be seen and heard on cable during a time when the FCC was lobbing fines like Frisbees at anyone even thinking of using four letter words.

The reason why this film is being written about by AICN HORROR is that it features a truly impressive cast of stars giving testimonials on their appearances on the show and what they thought...

The Fitness Compass, Level 1 Aerobics

Results
This video is not fancy by any means but the exercises are super effective. They are simple, repetitive, and fast paced. I didn't feel like they were super challenging but they really did work lots of muscle groups and burn those calories!

Don't bother!
I am so happy that I was able to rent this before purchasing as I am only out $3.00. This was without a doubt the worst aerobics workout that I have ever done. Every exercise as well as the warm-up were repeated over and over and over, as if it was on a loop. Incredibly boring and badly cued.

Fun video!
Girls were very energetic..i enjoyed the upbeat dance moves. They were talented and looked like hey were having aa good time. Good job.

Best show for grown up boys!
Comic Book Men contains non-stop laughter, comic book/items education, and a whole lot more. I am never disappointed with Comic Book Men.

Flakes on parade
It was this show that gave me the startling realization that not only women are verbally and emotionally abused - that men are abused, as well (& relatives & even bff's, who if they didn't have something that magnetizes them to this abuser, said abuser would literally have no friends!) ... I like to watch weddings! as is evident by my play list ... but some of these are hard to watch, even for a diehard wedding fan like myself!

Go Bugeaters!
Good documentary. It's well edited and the video is good quality. It was interesting to watch how the program developed. Very enjoyable a must for all Husker Fans.

A Wonderful documentary on Early NU Football
This is a vivid and wonderful documentary about the early days of Nebraska football. Not many people know that before they were the Cornhuskers, the Nebraska football team went by various other nicknames, including bugeaters. The movie uses actors to recreate games, people, and events from the past. The 65 minute running time flies by fast; interspersed are informative interviews with Nebraska football historians, including Mike Babcock. A must see for any football fan.

Phenomenal Documentary!
This film was very entertaining and informative. I especially enjoyed the music and game recreations. A lot of the information about Dr. George Flippin had me reeling. The Kansas coach played by Keith Homan was hillarious. I highly recommend this movie!

Secrets

Brilliant!!!!
Don't be fooled by any negative reviews. The first season was exceptional and the second season is even better. It's deeper and more complex. "Wilfred" is the most original and funniest series I've ever seen. Don't miss out on this wonderful show.

I was wrong
When I saw commercials for this show I thought that it must be so stupid - but I was wrong. It is very funny and extremely well done.

What a delightful show! Kept me entertained while in the hospital.
When I first saw this show advertised, I thought it was the silliest thing ever. And then I was laid up in the hospital with emergency foot surgery. So, I decided to watch the first season. And then I was addicted. You wouldn't think that a guy in a dog suit would be that funny, but it is really a hilarious play on life in general and Wilfred says and does things that just make life, as horrible as it can be, more bearable.

My Reincarnation

An Odyssey Of Self-Discovery: An Intimate Contemplation Of Responsibility, Religion, And Familial Ties
Jennifer Fox's documentary "My Reincarnation" was, literally, over twenty years in the making. Maybe that's why it feels so unique, so enlightening, and so quietly powerful. It shows how someone can change and evolve through time, how we become the people we are truly meant to be. Essentially, this is a story of self-discovery written across the years and played out with an unexpected intimacy and intensity. It deals with weighty issues such as the troubled bonds between father and son, the path to enlightenment, and the familial responsibilities that hold you back or set you free. The central family within Fox's film have an unusual lineage. The patriarch, Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, is a Tibetan Buddhist Master. But the movie is seen largely through the eyes of his son, Yeshi, at various points through the years. Resistant to his heritage and alienated from his father, we see him come to terms with what seems to be his birthright--but it's a long and difficult path...

Ordinary Magic - The Process of Life - Unfolding Naturally
But, even though life unfolds naturally, even beautifully, that doesn't mean it will be easy....

This documentary is perhaps the very best of many I have seen about Buddhism, and Tibetan culture and dharma. The documentary aspect is like being a fly on the wall of Namkhai Norbu's family's life, and especially his son Yeshi's, over a period of 20 years. And the content is very real and honest and uncontrived. It reminded me of times I've spent living with and around Lamas, the little lessons, the expectations and frustrations. And this is what living (and practicing dharma) is really all about.

What I like about this movie is that it shows the dilemma of living our individual lives, our individual destinies. The dilemma of not forcing the unfolding, not pushing or expecting it to go a certain way. The dilemma of honoring the past without repeating it's mistakes.

In this case the son, although identified as the reincarnation of an important lama (his...

A Meaningful Return
This film is a warm and compassionate exploration of the many facets of life for the renowned Tibetan Dzogchen teacher Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, as well as Yeshi, who not only has the burden of being the son of such a world-famous master, but the additional one of his own reincarnated legacy to navigate and embrace.

Most gratifying and quietly amazing is the graciousness of both father and son for allowing such close cinematic observation for so long. Twenty years of access to this family also allows for a view of impermanence, which subtly colors the events in the lives and attitudes of the principals. What a privilege, for filmmaker Jennifer Fox and for us, to be allowed to spend such a generous amount of time with them, and to get a sense of the fresh challenges which are imposed upon life when it is radically encompassed by Tibetan Buddhist worldviews. For an average person, encountering the possibility that your uncle has been reborn as your son, may well transform your...

Dropout Nation

good informative report, gives a voice to those who don't have it
Immigration is always a hot button topic. While some may see this episode as too sympathetic to illegal immigrants there are many valid points made in this episode. As an immigrant myself I resent the demonizing of entire communities because of a few bad apples, the oversimplification of deportation as the solution to all immigration problems, or flat out other irrational "solutions" for this problem. While I have no problem when ICE deports criminals and in fact commend them for doing that I don't think the law should be applied as black and white. Some thought should be given to circumstances such as the ones presented in this program. In the end the program doesn't propose any solution but alludes to the hopelessness of the problem due to perpetual political gridlock.

2 episodes back to back on Afghanistan
The first episode shows the extreme difficulty managing border security at the Afghan-Pakistan border. Many powers are interested in this border. Each interested party is extremely tough because survival is so difficult in this area and the stakes are high. A lot of attention was given to Pakistan's ISI and the way it apparently deals with all the other sides in the conflict.

The second episode showed horrible things. Little kids, particularly little girls, are at extreme risk in the remote Afghan areas. The opium traders lend money to poor farmers. When the farmers can't pay the debt, the drug traders take their daughters. And this cycle goes on and on. It tears apart families, and this episode shows some of these instances up close.

Both episodes were excellent. The second one is difficult to recommend because it's so disturbing.

Undocumented people and human rights - does it have to be so complicated?
Frontline correspondent Maria Hinojosa did a fantastic job in this segment. There really shouldn't be anything complicated about human rights. When the President said the issue is very complicated, he meant politically.

This episode focused on injustices for illegal immigrants regarding laws and enforcement of those laws. A lot of time was devoted to a privately run detention center where sexual abuse of female detainees had been occurring as a matter of course. Some of these women are mothers of young citizen-children and haven't done anything wrong other than being in the U.S. illegally.

As correspondent Hinojosa discovered, the reason sexual abuse of female illegal immigrant detainees prevailed was that perpetrators stood the slimmest chance of facing justice themselves. The detention centers are located remotely, the detainees do not have the right to an attorney, immigration officials were not responsive to calls for investigations and threats against...

Mother's House

A Worthy, Excellent Watch
There's really something to say about films with a twist. It makes the whole viewing experience more memorable. You're able to really sense the characters and their changing emotions in this film as it progressed. Where there's mystery, there's intrigue, and Mother's House had my head full of all sorts of exciting questions throughout. It's great when material gets you delve into some serious thought. Definitely a worthy, excellent watch.

Creepy in a good way
I really enjoyed this movie. The acting was good and it was creepy in a really wonderful way. The setting was beautiful. The ending was definitely not what I expected. Loved it.

Beautifully acted, atmospheric mini-thriller
Superb cast and production values in this little gem of an indie short, which I caught at the Woodstock Film Festival. A couple (Law & Order's Kathryn Erbe and the excellent Tim Guinee) returns to the man's childhood home, where his estranged mother has recently died. As they excavate her possessions, the past comes to light in unexpected and quietly shivery ways. The ending folds back on itself, opening many questions about all that has come before. At just 26 minutes, it's like a perfect short story. Enjoy!

Show Hang Over

Loved this show!
When it was on TV I really enjoyed it. I bought it to re-watch it and also watch the ending dance in episode 5 where they dance to How do you like me now, EXCEPT it was different music. I expect it was copyright issues but the replacement music isn't anywhere near as exciting. Guess "Shaping Sound" really is dance AND music. Whoever owned the copyright of "How do you like me now" really missed the boat by not granting use of the song. I never would have been exposed to that music otherwise. Otherwise even watching it the second time was great. I usually fast forward to the dance tho.

Loved it
Enjoyed the interaction of the dancers and the creative process that goes into choreography. You'll like it especially if you are a fan of So You Think You Can Dance.

IT's All The Right Moves For ME!!
If you love fun, dancing, and a dash of drama, this is for you! With wonderful dancers such as Travis Wall and Nick Lazzarini of 'So You Think You Can Dance' and their buddies Teddy Forance and Kyle Robinson; you are sure to enjoy this show. Impact and intensity are what these dancers bring to the table. This is by far one of my favorite shows! Enjoyment at its fullest!

Dance Moms Reunion: Off The Dance Floor, Part 2

I Love This Show
When I first heard about this show, I had no intention of watching it. I thought it was gonna be Toddlers in Tiaras but with dance instead. And the first few episodes of the first season, seemed to be just that. But as the show progressed, and the drama built up, I was hooked. Abby is hilarious, although I feel her teaching methods are a bit extreme. She can be a bully. But the moms are funny. The kids are adorable. I feel so bad for Kendal. Her mom is a hot mess. Christy was my least favorite in the beginning of the first season, but is now my favorite. I love Holly. This show is funny. This particular episode made me absolutely despise Jill. Rules are rules. And she keeps saying she wants what's best for her daughter, but she seems to be digging her daughter's grave with Abby. Abby even says it in the next episode. The whole thing with the costume was ridiculous. Everyone else followed the rules, even though they had jobs or were busy doing other things. Christy's...

Way To Go Chloe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't been completely into the past few episodes. But this finale was great. I am so glad that the moms teamed up and finally put Abby in her place. It is so obvious that Abby's pet is Maddie. She never congratulated Chloe for getting accepted into Joffrey's summer program. Chloe also won first place in the competition. Who's at the top of the pyramid now? But Maddie messes up and Abby is brought to tears.

When the girls auditioned for Joffrey's, The comments that the talent scouts were making to Abby's dancers might be an indication that Abby may not have prepared them as well as she believes. She always says that she is preparing them for the real world and is turning them into employable dancers, but her prized dancer didn't even get in. In fact the scouts didn't like Maddie. They said she was better suited for Broadway. This came as a huge disappointment to Maddie. Abby just shrugged it off. They was also unimpressed with Mackenzie's booty shaking...
